The French citizen Sophie de Goncourt has won the Open Championship of Spain of 2012 Puzzles to complete a puzzle of 500 pieces in 53 minutes and 34 seconds, the organization announced today.

Goncourt, which has renewed the title last year, has also been imposed in the category of pairs, with Patrice de Goncourt, to solve another puzzle of the same characteristics in 39 minutes and 29 seconds.

In the individual category was runner-up Maria Dolors Torra, Sabadell (Barcelona), who completed the challenge in 58 minutes and 47 seconds, while third place went to Alfonso Alvarez-Osorio, Valladolid, which lasted 60 minutes and 54 seconds.

Alfonso and Fernando Alvarez-Osorio won the runner-up in pairs, with a time of 42 minutes and 11 seconds, and third place in this category are awarded the Monica Santiago (Valladolid) and Juan Carlos Arregui (San Sebastian), who spent 50 minutes and 13 seconds.

In the Championship, held this Saturday in Madrid, 75 people have participated in single mode and 100 couples in search of a thousand euros in cash and as many puzzles in which she was endowed with the competition, the organization said.

The maximum time to assemble each puzzle of 500 pieces was three hours in single and two couples, 41 couples and 45 individual participants were able to complete the puzzle, "a really high number," the organization concluded.
